ABOUT

DR. JULIA MCARTHUR, C. PSYCH.

I believe that lasting change happens when someone feels genuinely seen, heard, and understood. My work is rooted in that belief, and in the conviction that emotions aren't obstacles to work around but information worth understanding. I draw primarily from Emotion Focused Therapy, alongside other evidence-based modalities tailored to each individual's needs.

I bring genuine curiosity to this work, about who my clients are, what has shaped them, and what gets in their way. Part of what I offer is a steady presence. Over time, I find that clients begin to discover that steadiness in themselves too, whether in their own lives or in how they show up for the people they love.

I've spent over ten years working with children, adolescents, caregivers, and adults. I hold a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Guelph, completed my residency at the SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health, and regularly hold sessional lecturer positions at the University of Guelph.

I take my work seriously. Myself, somewhat less so. Outside of the practice, you'll find me chasing Lake Huron sunsets and a great playlist.
